Should teachers tear out the answers and explanations of the workbooks?
Nowadays, teachers tend to tear out the answers and explanations of workbooks part before handing out to students. We made a survey about the students’ opinions on that. The result shows that different students have different opinions.
A small part of the students have no ideas about that. About 73% of the students are against what the teachers did. In their opinion, keeping the answers and explanations can help them check the answers in time and they can correct the answers immediately they finish the exercises. Besides, teachers ought to believe in students.
However, about one-fifth of the students are in favor of that. They think it’s a good way for them to avoid copying the answers. What’s more, it’s good for students to think independently.
In my opinion, whether the teacher should tear out the answers and explanations of the workbooks depends on not only the students’ attitude to study but also their ability to control themselves. For me, I would like to keep the answers. With the answers and explanations I can check the answers and know my current learning situations, so I can adjust my pace of study and get myself improved.
