The West Lake
Hangzhou is in Zhejiang Province, Southeast China. It is one of the most beautiful cities in China and it has many cultural relics kept in their original state for the people of China and visitors from all over the world to enjoy. The views here vary from season to season and there are a great diversity of flowers and trees here. Many people come to Hangzhou to visit the spectacular cultural relics. Others come to study its history, to go sightseeing, to walk in the city or to go shopping. However, the attraction that arouses the greatest appreciation in the city is the West Lake.
The West Lake is a beautiful lake. In summer, the water is crystal clear. When you arrive, you will be rewarded with not only the sight of its clear water, but also the views of the other tourist attractions and the mountain peaks that surround the West Lake.
There are many stories told about the West Lake. The most well-known concerns Xu Xian and the White Snake. On the Broken Bridge, they met and fell in love. They got married and then the White Snake became pregnant and later give birth to a boy. But their love was forbidden, and the White Snake was closed in the Leifeng Pagoda. Fortunately, she was saved by her son at last and the whole family led a happy life from then on.
